The University of Central Florida Has Won It’s Eighth Consecutive Diversity Award
The University of Central Florida has won its eighth consecutive diversity award. The Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from Insight Into Diversity magazine was awarded to the University of Central Florida recently.
The University of Central Florida Exudes Inclusive Excellence
Each person who chooses to enroll, work, or collaborate with UCF should have the means to achieve their goals and reach their fullest potential. That is the belief that makes UCF so unique and the beliefs of UCF’s Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
The HEED Award reflects UCF’s steadfast commitment to inclusive excellence. This allows UCF to put their values into practice and fulfill their mission. The University of Central Florida has an entire webpage that breaks down its commitment to “inclusive excellence.”. Which is a message that UCF has been preaching for a number of years.
Inclusive Excellence Is A Core Structure At UCF
Inclusive Excellence is a structure and foundation. This integrates diversity, equity, and inclusion into the very core of their educational organization. This core belief allows UCF to achieve organizational excellence. These are the words that find home on the university’s website. There are five pillars to the substructure that helps to guide the decision-making processes across the university.
Dimensions include “Access + Success,” “Climate + Intergroup Relations,” “Education + Scholarship,” “Infrastructure + Investment,” and “Community + Partnership.”. Some staff have been recorded stating that they don’t particularly care for the news as long as each and every student is treated fairly and given the same opportunity.
What is Inclusive Excellence?
Inclusive Excellence is a change in framework constructed by the American Association of Colleges and Universities. The goal is to make the academic pursuit of excellence more inclusive. This ideology reflects the universities strong moral and ethical values and the belief that every student, regardless of race, gender, religious affiliation, or sexual orientation, are presented with the same opportunities and are not limited in their pursuit of education and happiness. UCF’s goal is to maintain highly accessible. This is part of the University of Central Florida’s mission. UCF want their campus to be a space of belonging for everyone. For Faculty Excellence this means helping to recruit and retain the best and most diverse faculty available.
