New Year Resolutions for 2023

Did you start off 2022 with wishes of spending more tome with friends and family? Or did you wish about traveling all over the world? Maybe you set some fitness goals for yourself that you had intentions of doing but could not help watching the next season of your favorite Netflix show?

Regardless of how last year went, the new year is always fun to look forward to. For some people, that might means making a New Year’s resolution that helps them get the year started on the right foot.

How to Make New Resolution

Before you can move forward, you might need to deal with any issues either caused or worsened by the stress of 2020. It’s been a dramatic time for most of us, and the emotions caused by the restrictions and the loss of our way of life have been compared by some, to those experienced during the grieving process.

So, it’s no surprise this has left a high number of people struggling with their mental health and feelings of loss. That’s why it so important to talk to someone if this year has been difficult for you. Relief Seeker allows you to find the best online therapist to suit you.

What can you change?

Resolutions are often about changes. So think about what you want to change, the barriers that might stop you or make this challenging and how you’ll overcome them. For some of us, this could be a lack of money. You can get around this by finding free ways to work out if your goal is to exercise more. Or if you want to train for a new career, you can look at free starter courses and voluntary work to get you started on your path.

A Financial Resolution

Money can be one of the hardest topics for a couple to broach—especially if one or both of you is dealing with a financial stress or like credit card debt or loss of work this year. But it’s also one of the most important aspects of a long-term relationship.

Negative financial issues can lead to shame, which in turn can create secrecy, and it’s no surprise the combination of both of these things is a ticking time bomb for any partnership. But the beauty of a new year is the optimism it brings along with it.

A Relationship Resolution

This past year was tough, no? Snaps for every couple that made it through alive, remote learning scars and all. After such a chaotic—possibly traumatic—year, it’s important to take inventory of what worked for you two and what didn’t. Did quarantine mean you wound up spending more time together and you surprisingly liked it?

Or did you find yourselves resenting each other for all the housework and additional life stress? While 2021 will certainly bring its own challenges, try to isolate what, for you as a couple, were your biggest emotional struggles and/or wins so you can leave them behind or bring them into the new year with you. This resolution should be something that the two of you build together.

Remember when your mom told you not to put all your eggs in one basket? The same goes for your self-worth. Being in a strong couple does not mean you can’t be happy on your own. In fact, it’s the opposite. So, for 2021, promise that each of you will work on yourselves! Pick your goals and support each other as you go after them.
