Orlando Musician Renee Arozqueta Launches New Album With Ladybits, ‘Little Dreams’
Orlando’s Ladybits have unveiled their latest album, ‘Little Dreams,’ featuring the musical talents of Renee Arozqueta.
I first encountered Renee Arozqueta’s distinct style in 2015 during her solo performance at Ethos under the name Renee Is a Zombie. She presented herself as a quirky folk musician in the setting of a vegan restaurant, but there was something uniquely captivating about her.
Since then, Arozqueta has become a notable figure in Orlando’s music scene, particularly as a prominent member of Beth McKee’s Swamp Sistas. Over time, her unconventional charm has become her trademark, often making her the most intriguing presence in any room.
Collaborating With The Ladybits
Recently, Arozqueta has been collaborating with the band project known as The Ladybits, featuring herself alongside Mike Adkins and Kevin Meehan. True to their name, The Ladybits serve as a platform for Arozqueta’s songwriting and her distinctly femme-forward perspective. As she explains, “Our songs are about the bits and experiences of being a lady, or person, or you know, being alive.” The deliberate ordering of these words is significant.
The Album “Little Dreams”
The album ‘Little Dreams’ comprises eight songs that showcase The Ladybits’ eclectic sound, blending folk music with a touch of punk energy and a wild, untamed spirit. It’s a musical journey that explores various genres without adhering to any particular style, much like Arozqueta’s own artistic identity.
Released under the Orlando-based label Sugar City Music, ‘Little Dreams’ is now available for streaming on all platforms, including a feature on TLU’s Spotify playlist. This release sets the stage for The Ladybits’ upcoming tour, promising an exciting musical experience for both fans and newcomers.
