City Of Orlando Historic Preservation Board Calendar Contest| 2022

The city of Orlando’s Historic Preservation board is looking for photographers to participate in it’s annual Historic Preservation Board Calendar. All photographers are welcome to submit their work for a chance to be highlighted in the year 2023. This year, the theme will be Orlando’s Historic Park Lake/Highland neighborhood. So, any submissions should be referencing this historic neighborhood and submitted within the deadlines for the Orlando Historic Preservation Board Calendar.

In continuance of support for the historic preservation efforts by the City of Orlando, the ever-popular Historic Preservation Board Calendar was put into production in 1991. The calendar is a depiction of Orlando’s rich and historic resources. Do you think you have what it takes? All photographers are welcome to shoot their shot and submit their best material for a chance to be part of the calendar for 2023.

Orlando Historic Preservation Board Calendar Details

Your photo’s do need to qualify. In order to qualify the subject mater of your photographs need to derive from structural objects that are at least 50 years old. Also, the structural object you choose should also be located in the Historic Park Lake or Highland areas and neighborhoods. If you’re not familiar, the Park Lake and Highland Neighborhood sits between Orange and Virginia. And Mills Ave and Virginia Drive. The neighborhood is bordered by Virginia Drive on the north side, by Mills Ave to the east, Colonial Drive on the south side, and by Highland Ave on the west side. Further Submission Details

Your submission can be compromised of one of the following items. You can focus on one of the areas we will list here. Feel free to focus on an individual detail of a structure or on an entire structure. Also, if you decide to photograph the exterior or the interior of the structure, both interior and exterior structure photographs will be accepted.

For the selected photo’s, one hundred dollars will be awarded to each photographer whose photograph is selected for the 2023 Orlando Historic Preservation Board Calendar. The calendar contest is sponsored by our local McCoy Federal Credit Union.

When And How Will The Orlando Historic Preservation Board Calendar Contest Take Place?

The good news is that you still have plenty of time to prepare. Investigate, and shoot your images by mid July in time for the calendar contest. In order to qualify, your submission needs to be either submitted or pot marked by July 11, 2022, at 5:00 P.M. You can submit more than one photograph, up to three photos’ will be accepted.

Your images must also be shot in black and white. Your images must be printed on either and 8” x 10” or 8 ½” x 11” photo paper with a white border. You can submit either vertical or horizontal shots. Each photo must be correctly labeled on the back. Please include your name, phone number, email address, and the address of the site you have used as your subject matter. If your photo does not include a site address, it will be disqualified. Please remember to follow the instructions exactly.

Where Do I Send My Submission?

That is a great question! You can’t win if you don’t know where to send your photographs, can you? Be sure to mail your photos to the Historic Preservation Office, Orlando City Hall, P.O. Box 4990, 400 S. Orange Avenue, Orlando FL 32802. Again, be sure to include the information on the back of each photo.
