Make Orlando beautiful through the new Orlando Art Box Initiative. You’re probably familiar with the cleverly and beautifully painted “art boxes” seen around town. The colorful electric boxes seen at intersections throughout the city. Good news for artists, the Orlando Art Box initiative is back! Orlando’s goal is to “revitalize our city’s public spaces through artistic expression”.
There are three options for people who may be interested in joining the initiative in some capacity. You can apply to paint a traffic box, sponsor a traffic box, or join the artist selection committee.
What Is The Orlando Art Box Initiative?
Orlando’s Traffic Box Art Program (Art Box Program) is a community-based initiative that encourages local art and culture while dolling up the streets of the Downtown Orlando area. The program offers local artists the opportunity to express their talents by painting traffic utility boxes throughout the city, turning these typically ordinary boxes into works of art that brighten up our inner-city scene.
Getting Involved Is Easy
Calling all artists! Artists are invited to submit their ideas for painting traffic signal boxes located in public areas throughout the city. Artists will be chosen by a volunteer selection committee. Each artist that’s selected will be provided with an allowance and all the necessary supplies to complete their masterpiece. The works will be on display for a specific time period and will be maintained and repaired as needed to guarantee its long life.

Time Is Running Out! Applications Open Through June 5, 2023
Submit Your Proposal for the Orlando Art Box Initiative Before June 5! Orlando is seeking artists who have a one-of-a-kind style and outlook, and who are passionate about creating art that vibes with our community. To apply, simply fill out the online application form and submit a portfolio of your previous work. If selected to participate in the Art Box program, Orlando will provide you with all the materials you need to make your artistic vision a reality, as well as an allowance for your time and effort.
