Icon Park Unveils Expansion Plans For New Entertainment Venue, Hotels, And Retail Spaces
Icon Park, a prominent tourist destination in Orlando, is poised for further development with proposals for exciting additions. The expansion project includes plans for a new entertainment venue, two hotels, and multiple retail spaces within the park.
The ICON Park Proposal
At the heart of the expansion plans lies a proposed entertainment venue with a seating capacity of 409. This one-story structure is slated to be situated at the base of the Orlando Eye, previously known as The Wheel at Icon Park.
In addition to the entertainment venue, Icon Park aims to introduce new retail establishments. Two lots located at the northwestern corner of I-Drive and Via Mercado are designated for retail development, with an additional 5,827-square-foot retail space planned for the park’s northern boundary.
The Planned Hotels
Looking forward, Icon Park envisions the construction of two hotels on the eastern side of the property. These hotels, comprising a total of 550 rooms, are proposed to be built in existing parking lots off Universal Boulevard.
The timing of these expansion plans follows significant events, including the resolution of a wrongful death lawsuit involving Tyre Sampson in March 2022. This underscores the park’s commitment to safety and continual improvement.
