Doritos 3D is making a comeback
A popular discontinued snack that has sparked petitions and created social media buzz is making a comeback. Doritos announced Monday its new three-dimensional snack dubbed 3D Crunch will hit store shelves on Dec. 28. They will come in two flavors – Spicy Ranch and Chili Cheese Nacho.
They Are Back After 20 Years!
Though 3D Doritos claimed legions of ’90s kids as fans, they were sadly discontinued at the start of a new decade. For those of you who never got a chance to try them. 3D Doritos were puffy triangular hollow shells that came in. Some include Jalapeño Cheddar, Nacho Cheese, and Zesty Ranch flavors. There’s also the rendering of the new packaging. Which came from a leaked playbook of future products used by the Frito-Lay sales team. So, yes, we’re betting this rumor is highly reliable.
Popular 90’s Snack is Back!
The likely popular move redeems Frito-Lay for discontinuing several popular snacks this year after its production process was streamlined during the pandemic. Some childhood treats were so good, we still wonder why they would ever be ripped from shelves. Dunkaroos made an epic comeback this year, and now our hearts will really be complete with Doritos 3D Crunch. Chances are, the last time you had 3D Doritos, was in the early 2000s since that’s when the snack was discontinued. What made these bad boys so special? The triangle-shaped chips were miniature-sized, and (as the name suggests) in 3D, so when you popped one in your mouth, you got an epic crunch even with the hole in the middle.
All Over Social Media
Rumors about the return of 3D Doritos began swirling on Instagram and Reddit over the past 3 weeks, and now we have word from Frito-Lay, the parent company of Doritos, that they’re actually coming back. The Frito-Lay Playbook details what we can expect during the first quarter of the new year. No offense to the other snacks, but all eyes are on the Doritos.
The Doritos 3D Crunch will be available in Chili Cheese Nacho and Spicy Ranch flavors. According to the company, the chips were the number-one most requested product on the Frito-Lay consumer contacts. No shocker here!
Unlike many products that we get a glimpse of in advance, we won’t have to wait long to reignite our ‘90s snacking. They’re expected to be welcomed on shelves on or around Jan. 18, 2021. If this is a sign for what’s in store on the snacking front in the new year, we’re going to be treating ourselves quite a bit!
