Debuting This Summer: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure At Disney World

Disney World
is gearing up to unveil its much-anticipated attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, scheduled for a summer debut. The latest announcement from Walt Disney World on Tuesday revealed that this new ride will occupy the former location of Splash Mountain. Simultaneously, the park provided an exclusive glimpse of the Tiana animatronic, a central element of this upcoming experience.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Stems From The Princess And The Frog

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure extends the narrative from The Princess and the Frog film, immersing riders in Princess Tiana’s lively Mardi Gras celebration. The storyline revolves around Tiana expressing gratitude to her family, friends, and the New Orleans community for their unwavering support of her restaurant venture.

The ride features beloved characters from the 2009 Disney film, such as Louis, Mama Odie, Lottie, Eudora, Prince Ralphie, and Prince Naveen, all brought to life through animatronics—some voiced by the original actors from the movie. A video shared on @DisneyParks’ Instagram showcases Imagineer Charita Carter presenting the Tiana audio-animatronic in her adventure attire. The character is seen moving and interacting, though her voice remains unheard.

Will Contain The Iconic Splash Mountain Drop

Disney has confirmed that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will retain the iconic 50-foot drop from the former Splash Mountain ride. The revamped space will showcase fresh greenery, a tiara-adorned water tower, and a new soundtrack. Notably, New Orleans musicians PJ Morton and Terence Blanchard are collaborating on original music for the ride, complemented by tunes from the movie’s original soundtrack.

This exciting ride development aligns with Black History Month and Mardi Gras season, underscoring the significance of celebrating and honoring Black stories. The decision to replace Splash Mountain, themed after the controversial 1946 film Song of the South, is part of Disney World’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and positive representation. The closure of Splash Mountain in January 2023 paved the way for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, featuring Disney’s first Black princess and conveying an important narrative of Black history and culture.
