Coro: A Culinary Symphony In Winter Park, Florida
Nestled in the heart of Orlando, Florida, Coro stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of culinary artistry and luxurious dining. The name “Coro,” meaning “Choir” in Italian, perfectly encapsulates the experience here with a symphony of flavors, textures, and presentations that are nothing short of extraordinary. For anyone who considers themselves a true foodie or a food critic, a visit to Coro is nothing short of a pilgrimage.
It’s important to note that the menu is changed frequently. So, although some of these items may not be available upon your visit, this review should provide you insight into the level of creativity, craftsmanship, passion, and sheer culinary mastery that Coro showcases with each dish. We’re setting a precedent. This is the level of cuisine that you can expect across all their menu items now and in the future.
An Unforgettable Culinary Experience
Coro is a quaint, chef-driven masterpiece that has taken Audubon Park by storm. The restaurant is exquisite without being pretentious, offering an open-concept dining experience where chefs present and explain each dish, making you feel as though you’re part of the action. The atmosphere is exclusive, modern, and sleek, located near classic Audubon Park nightlife hotspots, making it the perfect dinner destination before a night out on the town.
The Coro Crudité Of Sorts
Starting with the Crudité, we were treated to an array of fermented vegetables paired with a creamy yogurt dip. The earthy, nutty flavors were both creative and refreshing, setting the tone for an evening of culinary adventure.
Fermented Potato Naan With Chicken Skin Butter
Next, we indulged in the Fermented Potato Naan with crispy chicken skin butter. This dish is a work of genius. Imagine the most flavorful and crispy chicken you’ve ever tasted but in the form of butter. This is the best pairing for naan that we’ve ever experienced. With such rich and carefully selected flavors and the added texture of the supremely crispy fried chicken skin, this is a masterpiece and left us craving more. If you think we’re exaggerating the bold-faced flavor of this dish, we’re not.

Tomato Salad With Melon And Stracciatella
The Tomato Salad was a delightful medley of skinless tomatoes, melon balls, and stracciatella cheese, all bathed in tomato water and fermented tomato water with green tea. The combination of melon with cheese and basil is a perfect flavor pairing, creating an extremely refreshing dish. The creativity behind the addition of tomato water and green tea is nothing short of a master chef showing us his decades of experience in fine dining. The addition of fermented sea moss added an unbelievable depth of flavor to create a creative, refreshing salad that any Floridian would be lucky to enjoy on a hot summer day.
Beef Tartare With Egg Yolk Emulsion And Warm Sushi Rice
The Beef Tartare at Coro is another standout dish that truly exemplifies the restaurant’s commitment to high-quality ingredients and innovative culinary techniques. This dish features tender, grass-fed beef finely ground with refreshing kohlrabi. The beef and kohlrabi combination was then paired with warm sushi rice and a luxurious egg yolk emulsion, creating a rich and creamy texture that perfectly complemented the beef’s natural flavors.
What set this dish apart was the interactive element it offered. Served with delicate seaweed squares, diners were invited to create their own savory rolls, adding a personalized touch to the dining experience. The seaweed added a subtle umami flavor that enhanced the dish’s complexity.
Spring Onions
In another display of culinary creativity and dominance, the Spring Onions landed on our table. This is almost an upper-echelon mix of traditional French fries and onion rings, served with crème fraîche and black garlic. The spring onions are battered with a mixture containing commodity fries as a batter ingredient which is such a smart and creative idea. They are then fried for a perfectly crispy exterior and a soft, flavorful interior, making them a deliciously addictive dish. With the crème fraîche and black garlic comes another level of flavor that surprises your palate and forces you to ask yourself if you’ve been eating as well as you could have been over the years.
Squid Ink Pasta With Lightly Cooked Squid
The Squid Ink Pasta is a sophisticated dish featuring silky squid ink noodles paired with lightly cooked squid, chicken jus, and citrus soy. The balance of flavors is faultless, with just enough squid flavor to complement the dish without overpowering it. This is the type of dish that you have to try for yourself, even if you think you won’t enjoy it. Because this dish is executed flawlessly, it has tremendous potential to change your point of view about squid altogether.
Natural Wines
A significant highlight of Coro is its selection of natural wines. These wines, sourced from small vineyards of less than 50 hectares, are made from hand-picked grapes and fermented naturally with minimal added sulfates. Natural wines at Coro allow the true essence of the grapes and the land they come from to shine, unlike commercial wines that often have added sugars, coloring agents, and other flavorings. Each bottle is carefully selected to perfectly complement specific dishes.
Even if you’re not jazzed about wine, this is the caliber of wine that may make you rethink your alcoholic beverage of choice. You can immediately taste the difference between these natural wines and even pricey bottles of standard wines you may find at your favorite liquor store. These wines are also hard to find, so tasting them at Coro may be the only chance you have to ever experience them.
Homemade Ice Cream
To end our meal on a high note, we savored the homemade ice cream with peach. The ice cream had a tart and tangy taste, enhanced by a drizzle of herb oil. It was a refreshing and satisfying conclusion to an unforgettable dining experience. The Sweet(ish) description of Coro’s desserts is a true statement. Nothing is too sweet and even diners who don’t have a sweet tooth will enjoy these tasty treats.
Coro is not just a restaurant; it is a must-visit destination for anyone and everyone who dares to claim the title of “foodie.” For food critics or reviewers, it is an obligation to visit and experience the culinary magic that Coro offers. If you don’t visit them, we may have to question your credentials as an epicurean. The ever-changing menu, inspired by the chef’s creativity and the availability of fresh ingredients, ensures that every visit is a new adventure. Your palate will thank you for the experience, and you’ll find yourself eagerly anticipating your next visit to this culinary symphony in Winter Park.
