October Events at the Morse Museum. The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art opens a new vignette. Preserving Louis Tiffany’s Interior Design: The Ayer Mansion on Tuesday, October 18. The Museum will also host a free Friday Film Series focusing on American designers the last three Fridays in October.

The following is a complete list of October events at the Morse:

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14

Friday Film Series, noon. Gustav Stickley: American Craftsman (68 minutes)

Jeannette G. and Hugh F. McKean Pavilion

Jeannette G. and Hugh F. McKean Pavilion, 161 West Canton Avenue (just behind the Museum). Learn about Gustav Stickley (1858–1942), a well-known proponent and practitioner of the Arts and Crafts movement. Free.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18

Vignette Opens, 9:30 a.m. Preserving Louis Tiffany’s Interior Design: The Ayer Mansion. This fall, the Morse will exhibit a few tangible elements that remain from the Ayer Mansion located on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston.

The items, generously donated to the Morse by the Campaign for the Ayer Mansion and Ayer family members, provide a glimpse into the remarkable home, one of Louis Comfort Tiffany’s most complete design commissions for a residence.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21

Friday Film Series, noon. An American Craftsman (41 minutes)

Jeannette G. and Hugh F. McKean Pavilion, 161 West Canton Avenue (just behind the Museum). Learn about artist and furniture designer Wharton Esherick (1887–1970). Free.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28

Friday Film Series

Film Series, noon. Eames: The Architect and The Painter (84 minutes)

Jeannette G. and Hugh F. McKean Pavilion, 161 West Canton Avenue (just behind the Museum). Learn about Charles (1907–78) and Ray (1912–88) Eames, celebrated industrial designers known for their mass-producible furniture. Free.

Museum hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; l p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday; and open Fridays until 8 p.m. November through April. Regular admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $1 for students, and free for children under 12. More information may be found on the Museum’s website, morsemuseum.org.
