Henry Moso, James Beard Award Finalist, Announces Moso Nori

Henry Moso, a James Beard Award finalist, announces his new concept, Moso Nori, coming soon. Esteemed chef Henry Moso, a nominee for the James Beard Award three times and a recent contender for the Best Chef South in 2023, is gearing up to enhance the culinary landscape of Winter Park with his newest project, Moso Nori. Recognized for his culinary expertise as the proprietor of Kabooki Sushi in Colonialtown and Dr. Phillips, Moso is broadening his culinary domain with the introduction of a hand roll bar concept.

Anticipated to make its debut in the summer, Moso Nori is slated to take over the space previously occupied by Bitebound in the City Place complex at 1100 S. Orlando Ave. The 2,456-square-foot locale is currently undergoing a development phase lasting six to eight months, with design insights being provided by GDP, the creative masterminds responsible for prominent establishments such as Tori Tori, The Moderne, and Haan Coffee.

Moso Nori Will Sport An Inviting Island Bar

Central to Moso Nori will be an inviting island bar, featuring over 30 seats, where Moso and his adept culinary team will skillfully prepare cylindrical rolls using top-notch roasted Japanese nori. These delightful hand rolls will encompass a diverse range of fillings, spanning from dry-aged fish to foie gras and an assortment of vegetables.

Moso Nori strives to provide an inclusive dining experience, offering hand rolls at prices ranging from $5 to $12. Complementing the culinary offerings, the establishment will present a variety of sake, beer, wine, and sake-based cocktails, ensuring a comprehensive dining experience for patrons.

A Surge Of Hand Roll Bars

The surge of hand roll bars has become a prevailing culinary trend in the city, with Sushi Saint, a venture by Michael Collantes of Soseki’s, already gaining popularity downtown at 400 Pittman St. Additionally, Mao Mao, a Korean hand roll eatery from Lewis Lin of Susuru and Juju’s, is scheduled to open on Palm Parkway next year.

As Moso Nori prepares to establish itself as a culinary hotspot in Winter Park, Chef Henry Moso envisions extending this inventive concept throughout the city and potentially statewide, should its success continue to thrive. Immerse yourself in the art of hand-rolled perfection at Moso Nori, where culinary ingenuity meets premium ingredients with every bite.
