Located in the heart of Baldwin Park, The Osprey offers a relaxed yet modern ambiance that sets the tone for a memorable culinary adventure. The atmosphere is vibrant and seamlessly blends contemporary design with cozy comfort. 

Ambiance And Staff


The ambiance at The Osprey strikes a perfect balance between sophistication and warmth. The modern decor, combined with an inviting vibe, creates an ideal setting to unwind and savor your meal. The staff at The Osprey, particularly our waiter Joe and Assistant General Manager Amber, were exceptionally knowledgeable and hospitable. Their expertise on the menu, ingredients, and nuances of each dish was impressive. The staff’s eagerness to assist in any way enhanced our overall experience.

The Osprey’s Impressive Beverage Selection


The Osprey’s bar is a true highlight. With an extensive selection of draught, bottled, and canned beers, as well as an expansive wine list organized into descriptive sections such as “Fun & Easy,” “Dry & Mineral-Driven,” and “Creamy & Rich,” there is no shortage of choice. The bar also boasts a wide array of rums, tequilas, bourbons, and whiskeys, ensuring every guest finds their perfect drink. Happy hour from Monday to Friday, 5 – 6:30 pm, offers a delightful selection of cocktails, beers, wines, and even oysters.

Tuna Carpaccio


The Tuna Carpaccio is an innovative and creative way to serve tuna. High-quality tuna with watermelon, sesame seeds, and arugula, culminates in a dish that rivals the best tuna dishes out there. Everything is perfectly seasoned with notes of sesame, sweet, and spice. The compressed watermelon cubes add sweetness, while the arugula adds a crunch for additional texture. This is a surprisingly refreshing dish, especially during these hot summer months. 

Steak Tartare


This is just a wonderfully creative way to serve tartare. The Steak Tartare, served atop a thick grilled slice of sourdough on a bed of whipped feta is astounding. The smoke flavor from the grill invades the crumb of the sourdough and leaves behind the smokey flavors we all love. The grilled sourdough enhances the tartare, creating a depth of flavor that is both familiar and innovative. The tartare is made from high-quality steak with a difference you can taste straight away. The charred edges of the sourdough and the fresh black pepper add to the overall experience, making it a standout dish. Also, who doesn’t love whipped cheese? Especially feta. 

Sugar Top Farms Peaches


The Sugar Top Farms Peaches dish is a creative blend of fresh and lactose-fermented peaches, cherries, marcona almonds, gouda, and a honey-thyme vinaigrette. This dish combines elements of a salad, dessert, and charcuterie board, with each flavor and texture playing a specific role in its brilliance. Not only is this dish fresh, tasty, and slightly sweet, but the perpendicular flavors of the gouda and peaches, with a bit of a nutty flavor and crunch from the almonds really rounds this dish out well. This is a full bodied dish that you won’t regret eating later in the day.  

Crab Cake


The Crab Cake is a masterpiece. This whole lump crab cake is pan-seared and laid on a bed of vadouvan curry, topped with a watermelon salad and pickled watermelon rind. This tender crab cake pairs perfectly with the curry, and the watermelon adds a fresh twist. This crab cake is perfectly crispy and the spice from the curry and sweetness from the watermelon culminate into a very well put together dish. This is a must-try for crab cake lovers.

Roasted Sea Scallop


The Roasted Sea Scallop, cooked in the Josper oven, is tender and flavorful, with a deep smoke flavor. Served in a ranchero sauce with lime, this dish is executed flawlessly, offering a hint of spice that complements the smokiness of the scallop. This is the way scallops are meant to be prepared and presented.

Florida Local Catch


The Florida Local Catch, which was swordfish during our visit, is served with cipollini onions, summer squash velouté, sunchoke miso, and squash jam. The buoy-caught swordfish is tender and perfectly seared, making it a delightful and flavorful dish. Of all the fish dishes you could order, anywhere in the city, this must be considered as one of the top options. This dish is consistently one of The Osprey’s top sellers for good reason. You should absolutely consider this dish on your next visit. 

Shrimp Scampi


The Shrimp Scampi is a classic, featuring homemade pasta, confit garlic, and fresh herbs. The large shrimp are cooked to perfection, and the dish delivers the traditional flavors we all love, with high-quality ingredients elevating the experience. The lemon butter sauce is divine and extremely flavorful. You’ll easily notice the difference that house-made pasta makes in this dish. This is a dish that will leave you full and content. 

Cheesecake


The Cheesecake is the perfect ending to an amazing meal. Creamy, rich, and decadent, it is made with orange blossom water and topped with marigolds, Petal Honey Co. honey, and an orange shortbread crumble with orange zest. This is all made in house from The Osprey’s highly acclaimed pastry chef. Of all the cheesecake desserts we’ve had, this version is at the top of our list. 

The Petal Honey Co.


Unfortunately, the Petal Honey Co., a local, small batch, honey purveyor suffered a bear attack. The latest update on their website reads: “Just a couple weeks ago a bear got into our hives at one of our bee locations and destroyed most of them. While we are pretty sure the bear enjoyed itself, it was a devastating loss to us after all of the time, money and effort that was put into growing these hives into some of our best-producing colonies. We’ve humbly opened the option to those that wish to contribute to help us replace and rebuild the hives so we can get back to producing some of Florida’s purest honey. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

Also, The Osprey, in collaboration with their sister restaurants, will be hosting a month long fundraiser to help the Petal Honey Co. get back on its feet after their devastating loss for the entire month of August 2024. The featured cocktail is the “To Call Myself Beloved” cocktail. It consists of Havana Club Anejo Clasico, Benedictine Liquer, Petal Honey Co. wildflower honey, Angostura bitters, lime, mint, and sparkling bubbles. Proceeds for the “To Call Myself Beloved” cocktail will go to benefit the Petal Honey Co.
