Pulse-quickening theatrics take center stage in this heart-pounding story of seduction and sacrifice for Dracula Performed By Orlando Ballet. Orlando Ballet resurrects Michael Pink’s Dracula, the gothic horror story based on Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel. Dracula’s eerie world is brought to spine-tingling life in sweeping fashion with expressive movement, thrilling music, dramatic setting, lighting, and romantic costuming. This fan-favorite is a perfect Halloween treat.
Many horror fans and non-horror fans are familiar with the iconic blood-sucker that was introduced by Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel. This became the basis for a stage play in 1924 and also a Broadway show in 1927 – which starred Lugosi. In 1996, choreographer Michael Pink created an eerie, critically acclaimed ballet version of Dracula for the Northern Ballet Theatre in England. Orlando Ballet presented Pink’s ambiguous adaptation in 2016 and will open by the 2022-2023 season by resurrecting the lavish fright fest. Pink himself will be traveling to Orlando to cast the show.
Dracula will run four performances at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts at Steinmetz Hall where patrons in the balcony seats might need to swat bats out of the air in between acts!
