Ethos Vegan Kitchen Closes After 17 Years In Central Florida
Ethos Vegan Kitchen, a trailblazer for plant-based dining in Central Florida, has officially closed after 17 years in business. Known for its delicious vegan menu, Ethos Vegan Kitchen was a favorite spot for both locals and tourists who enjoyed healthy, sustainable dining in Winter Park.
The restaurant originally opened in Ivanhoe Village, where it spent five years before moving to its long-time location at 601 S. New York Avenue, near Rollins College. Over the years, Ethos Vegan Kitchen became an essential part of the Winter Park dining scene, offering a wide variety of vegan dishes that catered to a growing plant-based community.
Health Inspection Confusion
Earlier this year, Ethos Vegan Kitchen was mistakenly linked to a health inspection issue that caused some confusion. A health report was posted by the Orlando Sentinel that incorrectly stated The Hammered Lamb, a nearby restaurant, had received an emergency shutdown order. The order was actually intended for Ethos Vegan Kitchen, but the mix-up caused issues for both restaurants.
Ethos Vegan Kitchen was more than just a restaurant; it was deeply involved in the local community. The restaurant took part in several community-driven initiatives, including the Bungalower Buddy Buy-Local program. They even hosted a recording of the “Bungalower and The Bus” podcast, with guest host and elected representative Anna Eskamani.
While no public statement has been made explaining why Ethos Vegan Kitchen closed, the restaurant’s legacy remains. Ethos Vegan Kitchen was a pioneer in the Central Florida vegan scene, helping shape the plant-based dining movement that has grown steadily in the region. Though the doors are now closed, its influence will be remembered by many.
