The Coop In Winter Park Is Closing For Good
The Coop in Winter Park is closing for good. After almost a decade in business, The Coop will be shutting its doors for the last time this week. Citizens are saddened that one of Winter Park’s iconic fried chicken hot spots will say goodbye for good. The Coop’s last day open will be Sunday, July 16, 2023. This is a sad touch of bitter irony as The Coop used to be closed on Sundays similar to Chick-Fil-A.
This Sunday Is Your Last Chance To Get A Taste Of The Coop
The restaurant will close on Sunday, July 16, after nearly a decade on Morse Boulevard serving up high-quality Southern dishes. The Coop did not just serve up fried chicken but sweet tea, shrimp and grits, coconut cake, and many more favorites to the residents of Winter Park.
Owners of The Coop revealed the bad news on Monday morning on social media with a heart-string tugging post.
The Owners Have Said
“It’s with a grateful heart for the opportunity to have served so many wonderful families at the Coop these last 9 & 1/2 years that we share that our time at our Winter Park home is coming to an end on Sunday, July 16th.
A testament to the vibrancy of the Winter Park market, current market rates are unfortunately well beyond what our little business can justify in renewing the lease.
The Coop brand will continue in the many venues it’s currently served throughout Orlando; and who knows, perhaps God will lead us to other restaurant locations in the future.” the post read.
The Silver Lining
Hopefully, this silver lining about The Coop brand living on and the possibility of another restaurant location aren’t just speculation and naïve optimism. The citizens of Winter Park have come to love The Coop as a foundational staple in the Winter Park community. They will be truly missed in our neighborhoods and we are all sad to see them go. With any luck, we will see The Coop pop up again around town in the near future.
