Sparrow Wine Bar Soars Into Downtown Orlando This Fall
This fall, Sparrow Wine Bar, a new addition from Good Salt Restaurant Group’s Jason and Sue Chin, will open its doors in downtown Orlando’s North Quarter. This 1,978-square-foot wine bar and lounge will feature a specialized menu by executive chef Wendy Lopez, drawing inspiration from Spanish and European cuisines.
The Chins have already established a strong presence in Baldwin Park with Seito Sushi and The Osprey, transforming the area into a culinary hotspot. Now, they’re bringing their expertise to downtown Orlando, near their successful Reyes Mezcaleria.
Chef Wendy Lopez, whose great grandfather “Papa Chema” was Spanish, will helm the kitchen at Sparrow Wine Bar. The menu will highlight continental favorites such as tortilla Española, patatas bravas, jamón ibérico, and conservas, alongside dishes like bacalhau croquetas, cacio e pepe, and prawn de bourgogne, showcasing influences from Spain, Portugal, Italy, and France.
Sparrow Wine Bar’s Cozy Ambiance
Sparrow Wine Bar will be situated at 807 N. Orange Ave, a mere 100 feet from Reyes Mezcaleria. Designed by Sue Chin, the 80-seat venue (68 seats indoors and 12 on the patio) will offer an intimate and cozy atmosphere. The interior will feature walnut finishes and checkerboard floors, with lowered ceilings to enhance the cozy ambiance.
“We wanted to create a space that feels both cozy and dynamic,” says Sue Chin. “The name ‘Sparrow’ perfectly captures the bar’s small yet lively character.”
The lounge will include a six-person bar, where guests can enjoy a selection of Old World and New World wines curated by Good Salt Restaurant Group’s beverage director, Lorena Castro. Classic cocktails and fine spirits will also be available, catering to a variety of tastes.
The concept for Sparrow Wine Bar emerged when La Femme Du Fromage decided not to open a cheese shop in the location. Seizing the opportunity, the Chins and Lopez envisioned a Spanish wine bar with a diverse tapas menu as an ideal fit for the space.
With Sparrow Wine Bar, the Chins aim to replicate their Baldwin Park success in downtown Orlando, offering a distinctive and engaging dining experience. Look forward to this fall when Sparrow Wine Bar takes flight, adding another highlight to the city’s vibrant culinary scene.
