Rollins College Appoints Brooke Barnett as New President
Rollins College, located in Winter Park, Florida, has announced the appointment of Brooke Barnett, Ph.D., as its 16th president. Barnett, who will begin her tenure on July 1, 2025, brings with her extensive leadership experience in higher education.
Brooke Barnett’s Background and Academic Experience
Dr. Barnett currently serves as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Butler University in Indianapolis. Her impressive career includes a previous role as Dean and Professor of Communications at Butler’s College of Communications. She has also held positions at Elon University, further strengthening her qualifications for the leadership role at Rollins College.
Dr. Barnett holds a B.A. in English and Communication Studies from Georgetown College, an M.A. in Journalism, and a Ph.D. in Mass Communication with a concentration in Law and Visual Communication from Indiana University. Her well-rounded background positions her as a strong advocate for both academic rigor and innovative educational strategies.

Barnett was selected from more than 150 candidates for this prestigious position, a testament to her exceptional qualifications and vision for the future of Rollins College. As the 16th president, she will be tasked with leading the private liberal arts institution, continuing its legacy of excellence in education while addressing the evolving needs of students and the community.
With a deep commitment to higher education and a track record of fostering academic excellence, Dr. Barnett is poised to help Rollins College thrive in an increasingly competitive landscape.
