One Woman Man Comes to the Ritz June 29

African American Playwright Brings Captivating Show to the Ritz Theater in Sanford

The Ritz Theater in historic downtown Sanford is set to host an exciting and thought-provoking theatrical experience. “One Woman Man,” a hit play co-written by Marlo Roberson and Jamal Blair, promises to captivate audiences with its powerful storytelling and diverse cast. Two performances are scheduled for Saturday, June 29 at 2pm and 7:30pm at the Ritz, 201 Magnolia Avenue in Sanford.

In this compelling performance, Alonzo Stephon (portrayed by the talented actor Obed Burgess) embodies the struggle of a hard-working man striving to ascend the corporate ladder. His unwaveringly supportive wife, Keisha (played by Ro Mckenzie), stands by his side through thick and thin. But when temptation knocks, Alonzo faces a critical choice: remain faithful to his wife or risk everything.
Co-writer Marlo Roberson, a multifaceted artist known for his work as a writer, director, and producer, emphasizes the show’s underlying message: “Hard work, dedication, and unity yield remarkable results.” Roberson’s journey from adversity to positive change in his community serves as an inspiring testament to the power of resilience and creativity.
Reflecting on his journey, Roberson shares, “With dedication and hard work, nothing is too difficult to achieve.” His faith and supportive family have been pillars of strength throughout his endeavors.
One Woman Man made its debut at Theater 294, a New York-based theater founded in 2014. Known for producing acclaimed productions such as “To Kill A Mockingbird,” “The Miracle Worker,” and “The Bad Seed,” Theater 294 continues to champion diverse voices and narratives.
