What Exactly is a Zine?
The term “zine” is a shortened form of “magazine,” but these DIY publications stand apart by their small, often limited print runs, usually with fewer than 1,000 copies per issue. Created through photocopying and other DIY methods, zines are crafted to share individual perspectives on a wide range of topics—from art and culture to personal stories and political commentary. They aren’t driven by profit; instead, zines allow their creators to share unique views and ideas with a niche audience.
Zine Fest Event Details
Orlando Zine Fest 2024 will be held on Saturday, December 14, from 8 to 11 p.m. at Blackbird Comics and Coffeehouse. Creatives who would like to present or sell their zines at the festival can sign up for a table. Keep in mind that tables are limited and will be confirmed only upon reservation, so early RSVPs are encouraged.
