Hamburger Mary’s Announces Departure From Downtown Orlando

Hamburger Mary’s Announces Departure From Downtown Orlando

Hamburger Mary’s is leaving downtown Orlando after 16 years of serving the community. Co-owner John Paonessa recently announced the decision, citing changes in the area as a significant factor. “Downtown Orlando has been great to us. However, times have changed. The hustle and bustle of Downtown Orlando has given way to a sleepy city with few people working downtown and opting for remote, and less traffic in the evenings,” Paonessa shared.

Bidding Farewell To Downtown Orlando

For years, they’ve resided at 110 W. Church Street, in the historic Bumby building, has been a staple in downtown Orlando. Known for its lively drag performances, brunches, and events, Hamburger Mary’s has served nearly two million patrons. The decision to relocate comes as a response to the evolving dynamics of downtown, with fewer people working in the area and a noticeable decline in evening traffic.

Co-owned by John Paonessa and Mike Carpenter, Mary’s has made a significant impact not only through its entertainment but also by standing up for community issues.

Searching For A New Home For Hamburger Mary’s

Paonessa revealed that they are actively seeking a new location that will be a great fit for Hamburger Mary’s. “We are in talks with several venues, but we are also open to suggestions from the public,” he said. The last day of service at the current location is scheduled for June 2, marking the end of an era for this beloved establishment on Church Street.

Hamburger Mary’s departure marks the closure of the last business on that segment of Church Street west of the tracks, following the recent shutdown of Harry Buffalo’s.
