The Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens host one of the brightest festivals in Florida. This year’s theme is Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild. This festival returns for the second year starting Nov. 19, 2021, through January 16, 2022.

Experience the Zoo as you’ve never seen it before! See over 30 different, hand-constructed illuminated lanterns displayed around the Zoo on a 3/4-mile path. Celebrate the art, beauty, and wonder of traditional Asian lantern festivals. Guests of all ages can enjoy this unique event. This event requires a separate ticket from normal Zoo admission
What is the Asian Lantern Festival?
The Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild is the only event in Central Florida celebrating the culture, art, and beauty of traditional lantern festivals celebrated throughout Asia for centuries. This inaugural event was created in partnership with Tianyu Arts & Culture, Inc., an international event design and manufacturing company headquartered in Zigong, Sichuan, China.
The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens has been transformed into a dazzling evening experience featuring more than 30 larger-than-life illuminated sculptures depicting animals, plants, and traditional Chinese elements. In addition to the hand-made LED-lit lanterns, festival attendees will get to enjoy local food and beverage options, live music, and authentic artisan crafts.
Where is the Asian Lantern Festival being held?
The festival is being held entirely outside at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens located at 3755 W. Seminole, Blvd, Sanford FL 32771.
What can you expect to see?
Within the festival, you can expect to see over 25 themed lanterns displayed. There will also be a lot of fun crafts and unique crafts for the entire family to enjoy. And if that is not enough there will be food and beverages provided. All of this fun can work up an animal-sized appetite. So, make sure to grub up at some of Orlando’s most popular food trucks and food vendors.
There’s so much to do at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens! With over 500 animals, a splash ground, reptile house, weekend shows, giraffe feedings, and rhino encounters, there’s something for everyone!
