Five Things To Do In Orlando Other Than Disney in 2022

Orlando, Florida has been a tourist destination for decades. Aside from the tropical climate and white sandy beaches, a young Walt Disney broke ground here for his wildly famous Walt Disney World amusement park. In 1971, hundreds of acres of Florida swamp land were turned into one of the most profitable and iconic amusement parks in history. However, Orlando developed more to offer tourists than Walt Disney World as the years progressed. If you’re visiting Florida in 2022, you won’t want to miss these other exciting attractions that Central Florida has to offer. Let’s dive into things to do in Orlando other than Disney in 2022.

Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures

About an hour south of what people tend to think of as “Orlando” (the tourist district) lies Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures. They invite everyone to join them as they skate across wetlands in the Florida Everglades at top speeds. Their six-passenger airboats are inspected and approved by the U.S. Coast Guard. The tour is approximately 45 minutes. During your time, you’ll discover wildlife areas that have escaped the clutches of human intervention. Here you will undoubtedly witness a plethora of exotic animals and wildlife. Boggy Creek Airboat Tours also offers a night expedition which lasts for about an hour.

Bok Tower Gardens

Another great thing to do in Orlando other than Disney in 2022 is to plan a trip to the Bok Tower Gardens. This well-kept secret is one of Florida’s first notable attractions. Classified as a National Historic Landmark, this landmark was gifted to us 1929, out of gratitude, from Edward Bok. With nearly 700 acres of citrus groves, gardens, wooded areas, hiking trails, and conservated lands Bok Tower Gardens is the perfect hideaway for endangered plants. Explore wonderous sights, year-round, with a visit and exploration of the Bok Tower Gardens.

Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens

Tucked away in vibrant, tropical foliage, the Central Florida Zoo houses over 500 animals on a plot of more than 23 acres of exotic plant life. In addition, they house their insect zoo, reptile house, children’s area (where kids can interact and pet a wide array of friendly animals), splash playground, and a zip-line. About 40 miles north of the standard tourist area, the Central Florida Zoo resides in Sanford Florida.

Gatorland

When in Florida, you live out the Florida Man lifestyle. One of Orlando’s oldest tourist destinations is filled with gators and sits on a plot of 100 acres. Thousands of alligators and crocodiles, along with an aviary, a breeding marsh with observation tower, Florida panthers, a petting zoo, and a splash pad await your discovery at Gatorland. Unmatched reptilian exhibitions, the Gator Wrestlin’ Show, Gator Jumparoo and special up-close encounters also await you daily. As if the gators weren’t enough, make sure to try your luck on the Screamin’ Gator Zip Line.
