Juneteenth 407 Weekend celebration is about bringing together the Central Florida community for the purpose of pulling our buying power and pouring it into Black Owned Businesses and the Black Professionals who run them.
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, is an African American holiday celebrated on June 19th. In 1865, the Emancipation Proclamation which was issued on Jaunuary 1, 1863, was read to enslaved African Americans in Texas by Gordon Granger.
Juneteenth has become not only a time to commemorate Black Liberation from the instituation of slavery, but also a time to highlight the resilience, solidarity, and culture of the Black Community. It’s a time for Black Americans to reflect on their ancestral roots and celebrate the freedoms and lives that generations have fought to secure.
