College Park Gallery Set to Close by Year’s End
College Park Gallery, a cherished art and event venue at 2300 Edgewater Drive, has announced it will close its doors by the end of the year. Since its opening in early 2021, the gallery has been a creative hub for Orlando’s artistic community.
College Park Gallery: A Creative Legacy
Led by Flynn Dobbs and Jim Hobart of Macbeth Studio, College Park Gallery has worn many hats. During the day, it served as Hobart’s photography studio, and in the evenings, it became a vibrant gallery space overseen by Dobbs, a certified appraiser and curator. Over its tenure, the gallery showcased more than 20 exhibitions and provided a platform for hundreds of local artists.
Reflecting on the journey, Dobbs, now the City of Orlando’s Public Art Coordinator, said, “College Park Gallery has been my home for the past four years. When Jim and I envisioned this in 2020, it felt almost too good to be true, but it soon became a reality. Supporting Orlando’s creative community has been an incredible gift, and I’m deeply grateful for the time we’ve had here.”
Final Events at College Park Gallery
The gallery’s last major event, Trigger Warning by LA artist Corie Mattie, debuted on November 1. Additional exhibitions and events are scheduled throughout December, leading up to the final closure on December 31.
Although College Park Gallery is closing, its impact on the local art scene remains undeniable. It has inspired countless artists and connected the community through its dedication to creativity.
Visitors are encouraged to stop by in the coming weeks to honor the gallery’s contributions and celebrate its role in Orlando’s cultural growth.
While the gallery’s physical space may be closing, the spirit of College Park Gallery will live on through the artists and supporters it has inspired, leaving a lasting mark on the creative landscape of Orlando.
