Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Charters Chapter at Rollins College
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® made its mark on another college campus on November 19, 2023, by chartering a chapter at Rollins College. Twelve women were initiated as new members to charter the Upsilon Pi Chapter, adding to the South Atlantic Region, the largest region in the sorority.
Founded on the campus of Howard University January 15, 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women.
The chartering ceremony was conducted by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® South Atlantic Regional Director, The Honorable Tiffany Moore Russell, Esq. “We are so excited to embrace these 12 extraordinary ladies into our beloved sorority, and I am confident they will make long-lasting contributions to the Rollins College campus community,” she said. “These young ladies represent academic excellence, service and sisterhood. I cannot wait to see what they accomplish at Rollins.”
Russell also expressed appreciation to Rollins College for welcoming the new chapter to the campus. Rollins College is the fourth oldest post-secondary institution in Florida founded in November 1885. U.S. News & World Report ranked Rollins College the No. 1 regional university in the South in its 2024 rankings of “Best Colleges,” released in September. For more information, visit www.rollins.edu.
