About Jorden Morris

A former principal dancer with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Morris is only the second person to be named Orlando Ballet’s artist in residence; he follows Arcadian Broad, who held the distinction from 2017 until his departure from the company in the spring of 2019.

For the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Morris choreographed two works for Queen Elizabeth II that were broadcast across Canada during her royal visit in 2000, according to the company’s website. His “Peter Pan” became the biggest box-office draw in the ballet company’s history — until that record was topped by his 2009 production of “Moulin Rouge: The Ballet.”

Master of the Boston Ballet

In addition to his work in Canada, Morris also served as chief ballet master for Boston Ballet, where he served as interim director during the 2001 season. Recently, he has been teaching, choreographing, and directing at a variety of dance companies.

“There are a unique energy and passion that emanates from this company of talented dancers and leadership,” Morris said of Orlando Ballet in a statement. “I look forward to the creative process and bringing these works to the Orlando stage.”

After also staging “Peter Pan” and “Moulin Rouge,” Morris will be a guest instructor at Orlando Ballet School’s summer “intensive” programs and will continue working with the company through 2022.
