Thank You For Your Support At The Scotty Foundation Charity Benefit

Since the start of the pandemic, local businesses and non-profits like The Scotty Foundation horse sanctuary have been hurting. Last month, The Scotty Foundation held its first charity event. In the true spirit of the Holidays, there was such a massive outpour of support from the Central Florida community. The local horse sanctuary received a lot of outreach from families, businesses, and caring individuals.

The Scotty Foundation Reaches Out To The Community

In the past six years, The Scotty Foundation has been rescuing horses as well as providing outreach services to the local community. What makes them different than other horse farms is that they offer opportunities and hope to those who are disenfranchised. One of their programs includes offering underprivileged children the opportunity to ride and train with horses. They also train its horses to be support animals for children and teens who have mental health issues or disabilities. Their horse farm has always been open to the public. Owners Abbey and Susan believe in creating hope for those who need it the most.

“These horses make no judgement on how you feel and who you are”… Founder Elbert McKimmie

In those six years, The Scotty Foundation has offered the community to use it’s horse farm for free. They have never requested a penny. They have used their own money to fund the farm and take care of the horses. After Susan was furloughed last year, it had become difficult for this local horse sanctuary to keep up with expenses for their horse sanctuary. Between the cost of hay and vet bills, they desperately needed support.

Thank You For Making Their Charity Event A Success

In the spirit of Christmas, the local community came together to offer their support to The Scotty Foundation. The COVID-19 pandemic has been difficult for everyone, and small businesses and non-profits like The Scotty Foundation who are hurt the most. The Scotty Foundation saw a huge turnout on its charity event on Sunday, December 27 2020. Many families and individuals in the Central Florida community came out to support The Scotty Foundation.

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon where volunteers came together to help with tasks like weeding, painting, cleaning, and bathing and brushing the horses. Many children were able to ride some of their beautiful horses, pet them and interact with them.

The support was so massive that there was a turnout of individuals who showed up on Saturday as well. The Scotty Foundation charity event was also covered on local news including WFTV 9 ABC and Orlando Weekly.

It means so much to The Scotty Foundation that the community was able to come out and support them. Thank you for everyone who has volunteered and donated at the charity event last week. The Mission of The Scotty Foundation

Owners Abbey and Susan believe that it is their duty to bring all of God’s creatures together and strengthen the unity of nature, animals and humans. You can meet their current herd of rescued horses here. Each horse has their own story and you can read about their journey. In addition to horses, they have also added pigs, goats and ducks to their sanctuary.

“Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome horses and other animals. We also provided therapeutic benefits to those people and families who might otherwise not be in a position to gain access to these animals and to find these animals a forever home”

About Their Horse and Animal Sanctuary

The Scotty Foundation is a horse rescue and rehabilitation farm in Central FL. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome horses and other animals. They also provided therapeutic benefits to those people and families who might otherwise not be in a position to gain access to these animals and to find these animals a forever home. Currently, they are building a core group of young horses, training them with love to our specifications, and work to provide free access to children and adults with little or no experience. We continue to help rehabilitate and rehome all the animals they felt needed help, cats and dogs included.

Continue Their Legacy and Support A Horse

With your support, The Scotty Foundation can continue to care for their horses and provide hope to disenfranchised children and teens through its outreach programs. They have a loving group of beautiful horses who require a stable home, food, and vet costs.  Your donations to The Scotty Foundation will help to keep these horses healthy. If you are able to offer a hand, This Apopka horse sanctuary is always accepting volunteers to help around the farm.
