SUMMARY:46th Annual Christmas in the Park Presented by the Morse Museum and the City of Winter Park
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, December 5\, The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art and the City of Winter Park will present the 46th Annual Christmas in the Park in downtown Winter Park. \n \nThe free outdoor event begins at 6:15 p.m. when seven century-old Tiffany leaded-glass windows transform Central Park into a luminous concert hall for the Bach Festival Society Choir\, Youth Choir\, and Brass Ensemble. The choral performance concludes about 8 p.m.\, and the windows remain lighted for viewing until 8:30 p.m. Blankets and lawn chairs may be set up beginning at 4:00 p.m. after the windows are installed. \nBegun in 1979\, Christmas in the Park was conceived by Jeannette Genius McKean (1909–89) and Hugh F. McKean (1908–95) to share part of their rare Tiffany collection with the public in an informal setting. The windows displayed at Christmas in the Park are memorials with religious themes designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany’s firm for installation in the chapel at the Association for the Relief of Respectable Aged Indigent Females (1814–1974) in New York City. \nFor the 46th year of the event\, the Morse will install its windows and present the Bach Festival Society Choir\, Youth Choir\, and Brass Ensemble in concert. The city will oversee arrangements for park use\, security\, crowd management\, traffic control\, and road closures. \n \nThe Morse Museum is home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848–1933). This year the Morse is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the installation of the Tiffany Chapel at the Museum. In celebration\, the Museum is pleased to exhibit one of Louis Comfort Tiffany’s most significant glass mosaics\, Fathers of the Church\, on long-term loan from The Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Glass in Queens\, New York. The Museum’s holdings also include American art pottery\, late 19th- and early 20th-century American paintings\, graphics\, and history of design objects. \nMuseum hours from November through April are 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday; and l p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Regular admission is $6 for adults\, $5 for seniors\, $1 for students\, and free for children under 12. All visitors receive free admission from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays from November through April. For more information about holiday celebrations at the Morse Museum\, please visit morsemuseum.org. For more information regarding events in the City of Winter Park\, please visit the city’s website at cityofwinterpark.org.

SUMMARY:Jingle Eve 2024 @ Gaston Edwards Park
DESCRIPTION:Jingle Eve 2024 @ Gaston Edwards Park\nIt’s the most wonderful time of the year… it’s Jingle Eve! Get ready for the BEST party of the year for more than 20 years running. Jingle Eve is the annual kickoff of the Orlando holiday season. \nSpanning stretches of Orange Avenue and Virginia Drive\, as well as Gaston Edwards Park\, families and adults alike find no shortage of yuletide festivities. From beer gardens to music\, local artisans\, food trucks\, a children’s holiday village\, and special event promotions by Ivanhoe Village retailers\, restaurants\, and bars. The evening culminates with fireworks displayed high above the shores of Lake Ivanhoe. Jingle Eve is free and open to the public\, with the exception of a premium “12 Wines of Christmas” walk. (Look out for tickets on sale this summer!) \nIn the Children’s Holiday Village\, we have craft tables\, bounce houses\, a Bubble Bus\, and more.\nIn 2023 we had more than 9\,000 visitors to Ivanhoe Village for one CHEERFUL night! \nAbout Ivanhoe Village\nTake a stroll down Orlando’s indie side. Its offbeat\, authentic\, crave-able\, bikeable side—the culturally casual side that weaves together art museums and renegade retro retailers. Novel Ivanhoe Village restaurants and watering holes are fused by the warm lake breezes flowing from downtown’s liquid playground. Lucky visitors enjoy the happiest of hours overlooking neon sunsets that tease the distant rush hour traffic. Lines are happily blurred between antique shopping and wine garden tastings. \nOrlando is filled with great districts and neighborhoods. Ours is just a little bit more unapologetic than most.

This was what the wilderness sanctuary early tribes found when they escaped inland from the Spanish. Later\, when Creeks and others from the tribes of the Southeast United States fled into Spanish Florida and settled new villages among escaped African slaves\, they became the Seminoles. \nThe word “Seminole” is adopted from Spanish and Creek terms for people who live away from others. The Senator was the biggest and oldest bald cypress tree in the world\, located in Big Tree Park\, Longwood\, Florida. At the time of its demise in 2012\, it was approximately 3\,500 years old\, 125 feet (38 m) tall\, and with a trunk diameter of 11.27 feet (3.44 m).
