SUMMARY:Lamps and Lighting—Tiffany and His Contemporaries
DESCRIPTION:Lamps and Lighting—Tiffany and His Contemporaries\nView Lamps and Lighting—Tiffany and His Contemporaries at The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art. Few designers did more to bring art into the home than Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848–1933)\, and few of Tiffany’s incredibly varied products did more in this regard than his lamps. Tiffany had been interested in lighting since his days as a decorator\, but the rapid adoption of electricity in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century created unprecedented opportunities to marry technology and beautiful design for a much larger group of consumers. \nThe new installation of Lamps and Lighting—Tiffany and His Contemporaries showcases some of Tiffany’s most innovative designs for lamps and sets a context for their production and design. John Dikeman’s workbench and lamp molds\, recent acquisitions by the Morse\, illustrate the process used in the creation of a lamp. Dikeman (1882–1967) was the head of Tiffany Studios lamp department until it closed in the 1930s. \nThe Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art\nThe Morse Museum houses the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848–1933)\, including the artist and designer’s jewelry\, pottery\, paintings\, art glass\, leaded-glass lamps and windows; his chapel interior from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago; and art and architectural objects from his Long Island country estate\, Laurelton Hall. The Museum’s holdings also include American art pottery\, late 19th- and early 20th-century American paintings\, graphics\, and decorative art. \n  \n

We will be fully clothed. \n\nForest Bathing is inspired by the Japanese practice of ‘shinrin yoku’. Shinrin means forest and yoku means bath. Give Nature…and Receive. ⁣\nTime in Nature is essential to ground and embody the goodness Life has to offer. ⁣It is uplifts the mood\, boosts the immune system\, and relieves stress. \n🌳 We’ll sit with nature and listen. ⁣\n🌳 We’ll meditation\, journal and give into Nature’s invitation. ⁣\n🌳 We’ll Forest Bath. Exchange breaths with the trees\, and receive their healing.⁣ \nAre you wondering about something in your Life? Or looking for answers\, but haven’t had the time to sit still and let the answers come?⁣\nDo you just want to feel good?⁣\nDoes hanging out with trees\, the wind and sun sound like an amazing time to you?⁣<\nInterested in boosting your immune system\, reducing stress\, taking a deep breath\, and an overall sense of well-being? \nIf you answered Yes to any of these questions\, this is the event for you. Join us as Julie guides you to listen and spend intentional time with the plants\, the wind\, the rocks\, the water\, the birds and the general landscape of Mead Botanical Garden. \nYou’ll be guided through this experience by Julie\, plant-based nutritionist\, herbalist and shamanic practitioner. SUMMARY:Forest Bathing with Julie at Mead Botanical Garden
DESCRIPTION:Forest Bathing with Julie at Mead Botanical Garden\n\nForest Bathing with Julie at Mead Botanical Garden – This is NOT a naked bath experience. We will be fully clothed. \n\nForest Bathing is inspired by the Japanese practice of ‘shinrin yoku’. Shinrin means forest and yoku means bath. It’s a process where we experience the forest (nature) through our sense. It’s also scientifically been proven that the trees release a chemical called phytoncide. It’s used to protect them from harmful bugs and germs\, and helps us do the same in our bodies. \nRelax. Let Go. Release. She recently moved from California where she regularly spent time in the forest and the plants. \nPLEASE BRING THE FOLLOWING:\n1. A journal\n2. A blanket or yoga mat\, something to sit on\n3.
