The Ravenous Pig currently occupies a space on 565 W Fairbanks Ave across from Fiddlers Green. The new brewery will be located in a 3,000-square-foot building next door that formerly housed an Enterprise Rent-A-Car. You might have already seen the construction while you are driving through Fairbanks Ave.

Ravenous Pig’s New Brewery

The new facility will include a 15-barrel “brewhouse” system where the ingredients for beer come together and 180 barrels of fermenting space, compared with the existing space’s five-barrel brewhouse system and 40 barrels of fermenting space. The new facility is going to be called Ravenous Pig Brewing Co. The brewery will produce beer for the Ravenous Pig as well as The Swine Family’s other restaurants: Cask & Larder at Orlando International Airport and The Polite Pig at Disney Springs. Ravenous Pig’s owner James Petrakis plans on supplying their beer on tap at the Ravenous Pig as well as other locations across Florida, with about 10 other spots lined up so far.

The original brewing space will remain inside Ravenous Pig and be used for more one-off and seasonal brews. The taproom will also remain in the original location, although special events are envisioned for inside the new brewery. Petrakis  has plans on making the original brewery a space for family-oriented events in Winter Park. It will serve food but also play kids movies on occasion.

History of the Ravenous Pig

Brewing at the Fairbanks Avenue location started in 2012 with the opening of Cask & Larder there. Ravenous Pig, which opened in 2007, and eventually moved into that space.

“Our focus has always been we’re going to make really good beer to go with our food,” Petrakis said. “We want to be more of a higher-end type of beer and a higher-end type of place.”

The Swine Family also operates the Cask & Larder restaurant at Orlando International Airport and The Polite Pig at Disney Springs, which both use Ravenous Pig beers. Swine & Sons Provisions recently announced it was moving into a spot at Local Butcher and Market in Winter Park. With the new brewery, James Petrakis also said Ravenous Pig will be able to distribute to other restaurants and bars across the state, as well as contract small-batch specialties beers for other restaurants.

The Central Florida Brewing scene has exploded recently and has caught up to craft brew cities like Ashville and Portland. Orlando is continuing to get thirsty for craft beer breweries – from Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company to Deadly Sins Brewing Company.
