Opera Orlando 2020-21 Season ONLINE Offerings

Opera Orlando is monitoring and assessing the risks of COVID-19 on the community. The Opera Orlando 2020-21 Season will be spectacular. While they are reopening, Opera Orlando’s top priority is the safety and comfort of its guests. For those who are social distancing, Opera Orlando is launching several virtual and online offerings for its audience to enjoy.

“It has been a challenging time, waiting out the current pandemic, but challenge yields opportunity,” says artistic director Grant Preisser. “With the success of our live-streamed talk-show style series, The High Note, we will be transitioning our Opera on Park Summer Concert Series completely online and free for this season, as well as hosting a virtual Fifth Anniversary Party highlighting the exciting growth and achievement of Opera Orlando.”

No worries though. The Opera on Park Summer Concert Series will be featuring world-class signers up close and personal. Opera Orlando will be broadcasting each concert on Facebook for this season. This broadcast will be hosted by Executive Director Gabriel Preisser. From the comfort of your own home, enjoy a wonderful selection of song, arias, duets, and interviews with the artists before seeing them on the MainStage in the 2020-21 season.

The series will close out with the 2018 Metropolitan Opera National Council winners, husband and wife tenor Carlos Enrique Santelli and mezzo-soprano Ashley Dixon, singing from their home in Atlanta, joined by pianist Clinton Smith.

The executive director and acclaimed baritone Gabriel Preisser presents an exclusive concert of his personal opera and musical theater favorites in celebration of his recent Grammy win. He was awarded the Grammy for Best Opera Recording with conductor Gil Rose, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and the entire cast of Tobias Picker’s Fantastic Mr. Fox this past January.

The Opera on the Town series includes workshops of Opera Orlando’s first commissioned piece, The Secret River, based on the book by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, a special site-specific show to be announced, and the Central Florida premiere of the contemporary chamber opera, As One, presented at Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre, sponsored by 26 Health.
