Downtown Orlando Planning on Opening A Ride-Sharing Hub

Orlando is planning to turn a bus stop into a hub for Uber, Lyft and taxis. The hub’s planned location will be the Lymmo bus stop and the grounds in front of the Regional History Center at Magnolia Avenue and Central Boulevard.

Vehicles will line up, just like they would do at the airport. There will be a second hub for Uber and Lyft near the railroad tracks between Jefferson Street and Washington Street.

The city is also considering making parking available for food trucks. These hubs might stop Uber and Lyft drivers from trolling for customers, easing up traffic and congestion downtown.

The hubs debut May 3 and will be open Fridays and Saturdays between midnight and 3 a.m.

The hubs will also be open for taxis.

As cities and large event venues attempt to deal with traffic generated by ride-share companies and drivers, these hubs are potentially a good solution.
