Extremely savvy film-score fans will note that this concert dovetails nicely with the “Music From the Movies” radio show.  That has been airing on the Rollins College station, for more roughly 25 years. In all, if the weather stays nice, a very pleasant afternoon for one and all.

Bach off the Avenue is a direct effort of the Winter Park Economic Recovery Task Force. A joint partnership between the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce and the City of Winter Park. The task force is developing events and mitigation strategies to help spur the recovery from the effects of COVID-19. All while promoting safety and emotional wellbeing. The Bach Festival Society is working with local restaurants and retailers to provide special offers to all guests. Encouraging them to extend their visit to Winter Park.

The Carmel Bach Festival

The Carmel Bach Festival (CBF) began in 1935 as a four-day series of concerts at the Sunset School Auditorium and the Carmel Mission Basilica. Over the years, it grew to a two-week celebration of concerts, recitals, master classes, lectures, and open rehearsals in July. The Festival’s mission is to celebrate the works, inspiration, and ongoing influence of Johann Sebastian Bach worldwide by immersing audiences in a festival experience integrating music, education, and ideas. Under the leadership of Music Director and Conductor Paul Goodwin and Executive Director Steve Friedlander, the organization offers innovative artistic programming.

Bach Programs

The Bach Festival Society offers a diverse program of concerts and educational programs. Choral, orchestral, and visiting artist concerts are presented throughout the year. In February, the renowned Annual Bach Festival features works of Bach and other great composers performed by the 160-voice Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra and guest soloists.

Recent guest artists have included the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble, Midori, and André Watts. The Fred Rogers Family Series offers engaging Saturday morning programs for youth and family audiences. The Society further serves the community through educational outreach, young artist competitions, and free community concerts.
